POSITION SUMMARY: Originates, underwrites and closes secured real estate loans for sale to secondary market in accordance with established lending objectives, policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with existing and potential real estate customers, real estate agents and other financial institutions. Maximizes customer relationships through cross sales. Oversees centralization of in-house Real Estate loan input and documentation.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (95%)

(40%)   1.     Underwrites the loan. Receives and screens loan applications, requests credit status, banking and other references, conducts on-site inspections, orders appraisals, etc.; corresponds with/or interviews applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application. Analyzes applicant's financial status, credit and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan request. Approves loan within specified limits. Communicates loan decision to applicants, including rationale for decisions and assures necessary supporting documents are prepared.

(20%)   2.     Develops and manages a competitive secondary mortgage presence within a designated region or market. Researches and identifies secondary market investors. Develops competitive products. Develops all related policies and guidelines, including regulatory and compliance.

(20%)   3.     Proactively develops business. Actively partners with key referral sources including local realtors.

(5%)     4.     Establishes and implements secondary market fee income goals and profitability objectives, aligned with Bank's Strategic Plan and annual budget.

(10%)   5.     Originate sound loans not qualified for secondary market and follow proper procedures for in-house loans regarding approval and compliance.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (5%)

  1. Keeps abreast of new developments and trends in secondary real estate market. Identifies potential lending opportunities and participates in development/implementation of plans and programs to respond to those opportunities.
  2. Assists in the development of manuals and supporting documentation to accomplish tasks/duties inherent in this position.
  3. Maintains educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences and workshops and involvement in professional, civic and community groups in leadership positions.
  4. Other duties as may be assigned.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in the field of business, including specific courses in accounting, finance, and economics

Experience

  • 4-5 years related sales/originating experience and/or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
